Sunset Cliffs

This hike is a great place to take a first date or someone you love. Named for it’s sunset vistas this hike is best done in the late afternoon. The rugged coastline and steep cliffs are breathtaking, don’t forget to take your camera. This area has been well preserved and retains it natural beauty. We saw lots of birds, sea life and lizards on hike. I would recommend doing this hiking during the week. The weekends can get a little busy.”

Slightly slippery
The top half is pretty but a little dull. The beach walk at the base of the cliff on the other hand was an interesting challenge. The tide was reletavely low when we went and there were still areas that required wading and hopping across seaweed covered rocks to get accross. Parts of the path involved going through sections of cave as well which required some climbing. There are really only a couple good spots to get up and down and we were trying to walk the beach from one to the other so opted to keep going even when bits of the path were mostly underwater instead of turning back. The only real alternative would have involved swimming and the water was a bit chilly for that. Overall fun but I definately suggest packing with the intention of getting wet.

Mud slides
My wife and I went to sunset cliffs a week ago (Jan 5, 2011) and there were tons of signs telling us we couldnt go here, danger keep clear. It was very frustrating and disappointing. The scenery was amazing as expected but the day we went it was very cloudy and raining...another disappointment.

Very Easy Trail
Not a trail I had imagined. But it has a nice scenery. Nice view to take your romantic date for a stroll along the cliff trail looking at the ocean.

Relaxing walk with a little climbing
This hike was a little weird in my opinion. Its mainly just walking on the cliffs. Its not a long hike nor a strenuous hike. You can make it more interesting by going down to the beach through the several openings within the cliffs. Some require a little climbing, but nothing difficult. You can also choose to climb through the wedges between cliffs to make it interesting. It has a nice and relaxing aura to it so it's a great place to just bring a date. Overall, if you're too sore or just something relaxing I recommend it for the scenery.
